800 Tower City Club Apartments
Address: 800 S. Fourth St.
Built: 1963. Renovated, rebranded and reopened December 2017
Parking: The community offers a covered garage for $100-125 per month. There's also a nearby lot that's free and that many residents use.
Size: 286 units; studio, 1- and 2-bedroom
Perks of being a resident: The rooms are well-done and uniquely personal with the option for guests to choose their own accent wallpaper, but the community space is really the selling point.
On the 29th floor there's a brightly colored, vintage-chic community room called the “Sky Club” and an outdoor turf space where weekly yoga is offered, but just above that on the roof there’s another community space with a pool, a firepit and large screen television. There are grills available for resident use and a fitness center.
Downstairs residents can use the small theater for watch parties, and a small dog park and dog wash are available for pets. There’s also an unassuming wooden door in the lobby that leads to bar Vetti, an Italian bistro of sorts that serves brunch with $2 mimosas on Sundays.
Where you can walk: The 800 Tower City Club Apartments sit just south of the downtown border. Louisville Free Public Library sits just around the corner on York Street, but the best walkable attraction is about half a mile north on South Fourth.
From there, you’ve got a choice of cuisine and entertainment – Safier Mediterranean Deli, Sicilian Pizza and Pasta, the Brown Hotel, 8UP Elevated Drinkery and Kitchen at the Hilton Garden Inn Louisville Downtown, The Mercury Ballroom and Louisville Palace Theatre.
