Kansas City, MO (September 4, 2020) – Chef Howard Hanna, along with some of the team behind the Rieger and Ca Va will open two new restaurant concepts at the new City Club Apartments mixed-use community in the Crossroads. The announcement was made jointly by Howard Hanna and City Club Apartments Founder and CEO Jonathan Holtzman. Located at the corner of Main and 20th, the combined 6,000 square foot space will be divided roughly 1/3 for the wine bar and 2/3 for the diner.  The names of the new restaurants and other details will be released at a later date.

Hanna met with Holtzman early in the planning process for the mixed-use apartment community and was immediately excited about the project and the opportunity to create a new concept in the Crossroads neighborhood.  “It was a big space and I love small restaurants,” said Hanna. “I asked Jonathan if he would consider breaking the space up if I committed to introducing two very different concepts.  He loved the idea and the deal got done.”   The natural wine bar will an Intimate and moody space.  It will include seating for around 50 and a private dining room that will accommodate 15-20 guests.  A cozy and approachable bar and a hearth style kitchen with a wood burning oven will be prominent in the space.  The menu will feature a mix of sharables and entrees with pristine ingredients and a high level of execution. The beverage program will be comprised of an eclectic array of frequently rotating natural wines.  "We want it to feel unique and special, but also relaxed and unpretentious."

The center piece of the Diner will be a large curved bar with anchored stools winding through the open and airy space.  The restaurant’s design is a subtle nod to a classic diner look with a very modern take on execution. The restaurant will seat 60 people indoors and 50 people outside on the patio. The menu will be familiar and comfortable in format, but will include the integration of flavors and ingredients that you would not expect.

“Howard is a true artist and a pillar in the Crossroads neighborhood and the broader Kansas City community,” said Holtzman. “He and his team understand how to bring people together and give them an extraordinary experience.  We could not be more proud to have his two newest concepts in our community.”

The restaurants will open in 2021
