10/16/2017 Jonathan Holtzman to serve as a panelist at Multi-Family and Mixed-Use development event at the Townsend Hotel

DETROIT, October 10, 2017 – City Club Apartments (CCA), a 100-year old company founded in Detroit in 1919, announced today that CEO Jonathan Holtzman will be a panelist at the upcoming Multi-Family and Mixed-Use event: The Future of Development in Michigan.

The event, which will be held on Thursday, October 12, from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at The Townsend Hotel, will include a panel discussion on the multi-family and mixed-use real estate development landscape in metro Detroit.  Holtzman is uniquely qualified to share his views and vision.

“This is an exciting time to be active in multifamily and mixed-use development and redevelopment in both the City of Detroit and in the right urban and suburban/urban locations nationwide,” said Holtzman.  City Club Apartments, which has a history dating back 100 years in the City of Detroit, will break ground on a world class mixed-use apartment community on the historic Statler Hotel site facing Grand Circus Park in the next 4-5 weeks.  “This will be the first ground-up mixed-use, conventionally financed high-rise under construction in the City of Detroit in the last 30 years.  The design and spaces, retail and restaurants, amenities, service, technology, underground parking and attention to green will be unlike anything the City has ever seen,” he said.

Holtzman will be joined by Matthew Lester, Founder and CEO at Princeton Management, Amanda Nunnink, Senior Director of Production and Sales at Freddie Mac, Moddie Turay, Executive Vice President of Real Estate and Financial Services at the Detroit Economic Growth Corporation and Village Green president David Ferszt. RJ King, Editor of DBusiness magazine and DBusiness Daily News will moderate the discussion.

Prior to launching City Club Apartments in early 2016, Jonathan served as Chairman, CEO and 50% owner of Village Green Holdings, a $4.5 billion apartment company that was founded by his grandfather Joseph Holtzman in 1919.  In July 2016, Jonathan announced that he had sold his interest in Village Green’s operating companies to Dallas-based Compatriot Capital. While he sold his shares in the management company, Jonathan retained the ownership of 10,000 apartments in 30 communities with a combined real estate value exceeding $2 billion. CCA also has $500 million of new communities in various stages of development and construction in urban Detroit, Cincinnati, Minneapolis, Kansas City, Louisville, Pittsburgh, Chicago and plans to expand to the east coast in the very near future.  The company will start two to three new communities each year.  CCA began transferring the management of its entire portfolio from Village Green to City Club Management in June of 2017.
