9/12/2017 City Club Apartments Receives 2017 Best of the Best Recognition from Midwest Real Estate News

DETROIT, September 12, 2017 – City Club Apartments (CCA), a nearly 100-year old company founded in Michigan in 1919, announced that it has been recognized as a Top Owner by Midwest Real Estate News’ 2017 Best of the Best. City Club Apartments CEO Jonathan Holtzman made the announcement.

City Club Apartment’s Best of the Best Top Owner ranking was based on the size of the company’s Midwest portfolio.  Holtzman, along with his Canadian partner Alan Greenberg and other investors, own more than 10,000 apartments in 30 communities totaling more than $2 billion. They also have more than $500 million in new urban luxury apartment communities in various stages of development and construction in downtown Detroit, Cincinnati, Minneapolis, Kansas City, St. Louis, Louisville, Pittsburgh, Chicago and the east coast.

“We are honored to be recognized as a top owner by Midwest Real Estate News,” said Holtzman. “The Midwest will remain a target region as we continue to expand both in the east and internationally. We are rethinking and redefining the urban and suburban-urban apartment residential experience.”

Prior to launching CCA in early 2016, Jonathan served as Chairman, CEO and 50 percent owner of Village Green Holdings, a 50-year-old, $4.5 billion apartment company that was founded by his grandfather Joseph Holtzman. In July 2016, Jonathan announced that he had sold his interest in Village Green’s operating companies to Dallas-based Compatriot Capital. While he sold his shares in the management company, Jonathan retained his ownership in all of the real estate.

CCA began transferring the management of its entire portfolio from Village Green to City Club Management in June of 2017.
