Detroit-based City Club Apartments has begun development of City Club Apartments MDA-Phase II in Chicago. The project will add a new seven-story mid-rise, mixed-use building to the Loop, adding 81 units to MDA I’s 190 existing apartments and penthouses.
“We are thrilled to be breaking ground on the Phase II of this great community,” said Jonathan Holtzman, City Club Apartments Chairman and CEO. “We have been actively developing, owning and managing high-performing mixed-use apartment and penthouse communities in Chicago for more than 24 years. This is the first of two new buildings that we will be breaking ground on in the city this year.”
The community, which is located at 63 E. Lake Street, is just steps from the Chicago River and the famous Theater District and a short walk from Millennium Park, the Art Institute of Chicago and Michigan Avenue shopping. The developer converted all 23 stories of the historic, 1927-construction first phase MDA building into a mixed-use apartment community in 2006.
MDA Phase II will reflect the historic architecture of Chicago with decorative brickwork, large casement-style windows, black metalwork fenestration and International design interiors. The new rooftop Sky Park will include a heated outdoor pool, wrap-around sun loungers, outdoor theatre, grill stations, cabanas and lounge seating as well as spectacular city views. The sixth floor will house a multi-purpose club room/conference room and connect to CCA MDA Phase I via a skybridge.
“City Club Apartments are inspiring amenity and service-rich communities,” said Holtzman. “The look and feel both inside and out of this new building will be stunning. We are creating the building to meet Green Building Initiative’s Green Globes Certification and pursuing Wellness Certification. And, we will integrate the latest advanced high-speed fiber technologies.”
Additional combined amenities that CCA MDA Phase I and II residents will have access to include a 24/7 concierge, lobby lounge library, 24/7 whole body fitness center, weekly social programing, Zen Garden, Sky Club, bicycle room, Bark Park, indoor theatre, business center and conference room.
Construction on City Club Apartments MDA Phase II will begin this month. The first residents are expected to begin moving into the community in March of 2021 with a completion target for all of the studio, one-bedroom and penthouse apartments by the second quarter of 2021.
